Electroless Nickel Plating
Electroless Nickel (EN) plating is a high-performance metal finishing process that deposits a uniform nickel-phosphorus alloy onto a component without the use of an electrical current. Unlike traditional electroplating, electroless nickel relies on a controlled chemical reaction, allowing the coating to build evenly over complex shapes, internal passages, threads, and recessed features.
Because of its exceptional uniformity, corrosion resistance, hardness, and wear properties, electroless nickel is widely used in the automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing industries.
Benefits of Electroless Nickel Plating
- Uniform coating thickness on all surfaces, including complex geometries and internal features
- Excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments
- High hardness and wear resistance
- Improved lubricity and reduced friction
- Excellent dimensional accuracy with minimal buildup variation
- Suitable for precision-machined components
- Can be heat treated to significantly increase hardness and wear resistance

Our Electroless Nickel is great for any part
Thanks to technological advances with the ELECTROLESS NICKEL plating industry, Franke Plating Works has created excellent electroless nickel plating capabilities for a multitude of parts. The use of electroless nickel plating has grown in many industries. It has become a “go to” process for many metal finishing applications. Nickel coatings act as a barrier layer to prevent the substrate alloy from affecting the surface finish. This, coupled with the uniformity of the deposit, makes it an ideal metal finish that prevents rust and other corrosion. Warren Franke has learned to investigate the endless possibilities for an electroless nickel for clients in an effort to improve product durability and lower cost. Electroless Nickel is deposited at a Rockwell Hardness of C54 to C56. This can be increased to C68 to C70 by baking for hardness after plating.
If you’re investigating ELECTROLESS NICKEL plating, Franke Plating Works, Inc. should be your first choice for superior plating.
